the tangible kingdom

coverHugh Halter and Matt Smay are the authors of The Tangible Kingdom. Through a neat little bit of networking Hugh arrived here in Kelowna on Sunday and met with a bunch of interested folk on Monday evening. Many of our friends showed up for that informal gathering and we listened to Hugh’s story of burn out in ministry and then discovering a what it means to live missionally and incarnationally. Hugh and Matt have founded a network of communities in Denver.

I haven’t read the book, but I”ve read some reviews and had some good dialogue with Hugh. Many who have read the book.. which Hugh says was an immensely difficult task for him.. find a resonance that they haven’t found with other works. While the orientation mirrors the work of CMA, it is also different. It’s beautiful to see these local and contextual expressions. Matt and Hugh are both visionary.. but also both practitioners with their feet on the ground.

YOu can view a great PDF slide show that tells the story HERE.

The VIDEO is HERE.

Missio and MCAP are the training initiatives growing out of their learning and travels.
They are associated with CRM (Church Resource Ministries) and you can listen to a podcast with Hugh HERE.

I just finished this book over vacation. HIGHLY recommend it; it’s a home run for those doing or wishing to do truly incarnational, missional, simple, organic Christian community.

Just wanted to let you know that we’ll be launching the new Tangible Kingdom website this weekend. The video link above is dead, BrightCove changed their terms of service. We still have it posted on Youtube though.

    Cheers, kevin
