Melissa Hedden writes on “Batman – The Postmodern Hero” in The Next Wave Ezine.
I didn’t enjoy that movie much; I preferred the action and story line of the earlier one. But Melissa redeems it a bit for me with her reflections.
We saw The Kite Runner this summer. While the pace is slow, as with many foreign films, it was easy to see why it garnered so many awards. It’s not an easy movie to watch in some places, but it’s a powerful story with a powerful message.
Last night we drove downtown to see Amal. The sub for this one is, “Sometimes the poorest of men are the richest.” Made in Canada, it features some great acting and filming. If you have any particular interest in culture, or Indian culture in particular, this one will hold your interest.
We’re waiting to see The Visitor. It appears to have been released in many locations, but has not yet come through our town. The website says it will be available on DVD on October 7th. Watch the trailer HERE.
