imageI don’t know.. I fear these guys will either..

a. burn out with the volume of interaction, or

b. make a lot of money and sell the thing to a large Corporation

But whatever comes of it.. its an amazing effort. Seems a bunch of the original Seabeck bloggers got together to talk about a new networking tool.. and came up with.. (drum roll.. )

Missional Tribe

Some of the guilty parties are Blind Beggar, the Abbess, Bro Maynard, Kingdom Grace, Bill Kinnon, and Futuristguy. Grace writes,

“A few of us who had met face-to-face at the Allelon Missional Order event in Seabeck, WA in October, 2007, talked about the best way to keep those posts and ideas evergreen. We’d also been part of the Wikiklesia Project: Voices of the Virtual World. Perhaps a book would be effective. By the fall, seven of us were in ongoing conversation around how best to serve the “missional” mission ..”

Well done guys. I think this is a worthy effort and will be a gift to many.

Now, I have just one question about all this. I know I am supposed to be incarnational, but I’m spending so much time at Missional Tribe that I no longer have time for the rest of the virtual world.  Oh-oh ..

[...] This week I’ve been having a markedly increased number of email conversations concerning the new Missional Tribe. Len Hjalmarson called it FACEBOOK for missional and wondered if we would burn out with the volume of interaction, or make a lot of money and sell the thing to a large Corporation. I’m thinking burnout is more likely, but I’m always open to offers… (just kidding!) I think my favorite comment was via email from a co-instigator of The Tribe: “Have you guys considered that we may be responsible for essentially killing the conversation in the emerging/missional blogsophere this week? My blog is like a cemetery…” Well, I’ve noticed that I haven’t had much of anything to say this week that didn’t involve Missional Tribe. Sorry ’bout that, but it’s been a pretty big event. Things should get back to normal around here very soon — and we didn’t mean to crash the blogosphere, really! That should get back into its rhythm soon too, though we hope there will be a lot more conversation aggregated and collected on the new Tribe site. We’re still hoping for a lot of good missional stories, and will be highlighting some of those soon: there’s a lot good stuff popping up already, like a kind of pent-up explosion. You can show appreciation for this post by buying me a can of soup… New around here? Why not Subscribe? Len, like you, I’m a bit overwhelmed. I tried once to create an account, which didn’t work, and I’m now following the Twitter feed and I get about 10 tweets every 2-3 min, which has completely swamped my twitter feed reader. I frankly don’t know where people get time to do all the blogging they do. :)
