19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the LORD, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the LORD, O my soul. Ps. 103
As I read these words this morning, I had a surge of God-confidence and joy. I felt the truth of it in my soul.
There are times when there is nowhere else to begin except with praise. Surely there is nowhere else to end.
I bow before this great King, and marvel at the mystery that He stoops down to me. He invites me to partner with Him in His work of redemption.
His kingdom rules over all! What a sure foundation that is. I know the Lord as Creator and Ruler, both on earth and in heaven, even when my experience doesn’t match that reality. And I rejoice in His just and loving rule.
When it seems like everything is out of control I can pray, “Your Kingdom come,” and hope for change, and trust that in the broad sweep of history the Lord reigns and will establish His purpose.
