"The willingness to be born --and this means the willingness to let go of all "certainties" and illusions -- requires courage and faith. Courage to let go of certainties, courage to be different and stand isolation." Erich Fromm

Inviting God's Future moves in four distinct segments. The first segment looks at the transition from one paradigm to another. The material in this section is adapted from Beck, McLaren, Frost and Hirsch, and Miller. The next segment considers the Gospel. Why did Jesus come preaching the Kingdom and not the church? What does it mean to say that God's mission defines us, and not we, it? This segment begins to unpack the dualistic paradigm in which Christendom largely exists in the dying culture.

The next segment looks at the lifecycle of movements and organizations. It then overlays leadership giftings with life-cycle stages, toward asking the question, "What kind of leadership is needed for the ekklesia in this generation?" The final segment examines some of the new expressions of church we are seeing in the western world, and closes with a look at the seven capacities needed to embrace a new paradigm.

Rhymes and Reasons is designed to capture the paradox that disciples are lifelong learners; therefore, if we rest in the answers and forget the questions we have actually stopped walking forward with Jesus. The presentation is around 10MB.

Restoring Apostolic Foundations is a presentation designed by Bob Lund. Bob argues that we have lost the NT foundations and quotes sources like Wayne Jacobsen and the early church Fathers, then works through his own "95 Theses."

Ancient Prayers is a PPT presentation by Tony Jones. It includes some powerful prayers and is well presented.

Colin Powell on leadership is a leadership primer designed in cooperation with Powell while he was still Secretary of State. It is somewhat modern in design, but contains some great wisdom.

Toward a Missional Spirituality is the same article you can find in HTML format HERE. The Shaping of Things to Come is the first chapter of the excellent book by Michael Frost and Alan Hirsch. You can read the review HERE.

Communities of Leaders and Learners is from Peter Senge's address on the 75th anniversary of the Harvard Business Review. Leadership in the Postmodern Era is my attempt to summarize some of the best thinking that was current in the church in 2003.

"Releasing the Gospel..." was published in the "International Journal of Frontier Missions" in 2000. Campbell reflects in a helpful way on the issues of deconstruction and contextualization, with a view to avoiding compromise. He makes a number of distinctions which are useful.

Decoding the Church is Chapter 1 of the book of the same title. Snyder argues that the DNA of the church is revealed by Jesus in Luke 4 as the gospel to the poor and oppressed. No church can claim to be apostolic that is not broken bread for the poor.

Custom and Command is a document that argues that we have taken things from culture (the sermon, the tithe, worship service and others) that were helpful customs (culturally relative) and taught them as command (a New Testament norm).

The Spontaneous Expansion of the Church is an astonishing document that demonstrates how far we are down the road to a limited priesthood and how much we have limited the growth of the kingdom by our emphasis on structure and control. If you have never read this document, please check out the review.

The Velveteen Rabbit is a beautiful story by Margerey Williams that shows how we only become real when we are loved.

Post-Modern Possibilities is a revision of a document I originally wrote along with Rob McAlpine of Winnipeg. This PDF file allows easy sharing with your friends. The thesis is that the gospel can thrive in postmodern culture, if we understand the translation. We face a great opportunity in the emerging culture! The document is 18 pages including footnotes.
